Steps to follow if you have an issue with a dealership
If you have a concern or issue with a Dealership, some steps you
can follow are:
- Talk to the Dealership first. Begin with the Manager of the
department in question, and if there is still an issue, you can talk
to the General Manager or Owner. At this point, you may want to
write a letter to the General Manager or Owner, outlining the issue,
and how you would like to resolve it. You can Carbon Copy the letter
to MMDA by fax to (204) 775-9125. By this stage, most concerns can
be addressed satisfactorily.
- Talk to the Manufacturer. Several Manufacturers have Customer
Complaint Resolution Procedures.
- Contact the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP) at
1-800-207-0685 or on their web site at
http://www.camvap.ca.
This Arbitration was set up to deal with concerns with the
manufacturer, and is binding arbitration. There are conditions that
must be met for eligibility.
- Contact the Consumers’ Bureau of Manitoba. They can be reached
at (204) 945-3800 or 1-800-782-0067 or on their web site at
http://www.gov.mb.ca/finance/cca/consumb.
- Seek Legal Counsel. Unfortunately, you may feel this step is
necessary, however, this will most likely increase the time it takes
to straighten out an issue. If you and the Dealership can work
things out to your mutual satisfaction, everyone wins!”
