The MMDA has been operating in Manitoba for over 75 years and represents the new vehicle franchised dealerships across our province. We address provincial issues that affect the well-being of our dealer members. MMDA members contribute almost $3 billion annually to our economy and employ thousands of Manitobans. Our members play a strong role in environmental stewardship and continue to be generous supporters of charitable groups throughout our province. As a result, MMDA members continue to make a positive difference in the life and fabric of their respective communities.

We at Manitoba Motor Dealers Association (MMDA) are excited to be a part of this journey to a net-zero future. Through our Lead the charge program and Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, we will continue to support the development of the Electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Manitoba, bringing us closer to our net-zero future.

Matt Walters

President Manitoba Motor Dealers Association (MMDA)

EV Week represents an important moment for us all. This week is all about celebrating electric vehicles and their many benefits to Manitobans, Canadians, and the environment. Electric vehicles are a key part of our efforts to create a more sustainable future, and we’re committed to supporting their adoption here in Manitoba.

“Happy EV Week, Canada. Our government is making electric vehicles more affordable and charging more accessible where Canadians live, work and play. Investing in more EV chargers across the country will put more Canadians in the driver’s seat on the road to a net-zero future and help achieve our climate goals.”

The Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson

Minister of Natural Resources

Through MMDA’s Lead the Charge Program, the NRCan funding is being used to install new EV charging infrastructure in Manitoba. Our program received a large number of applications, and we are happy to announce that all applicants who met the criteria were approved. At this point, our application intake period is closed, and our focus going forward is supporting our applicant’s projects to ensure that we achieve the overall project objectives.

We want to take this opportunity to thank Natural Resources Canada for its support in the development of Manitoba’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This is an important step in making it easier for drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
